Roy was the first child born to Roy Lee Haynes and Bernice Johnson Haynes who preceded him in death. He dedicated his life to God early in life and was baptized at Church of God in Christ in McGregor, Texas.
Roy moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1970, where he attended Alamo Heights High School and San Antonio Community College. He worked for the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation for many years that was the ideal job for him. He was able to be outside and enjoy the many pleasures of nature. You can take the boy out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the boy. He did some construction work but the last job working in a call center was a good fit for him. Roy loved to meet people and talk about any and every thing. He did not meet a stranger. He enjoyed any opportunity to demonstrate how well versed he was on any subject. He considered himself a philosopher and enjoyed discussing and contemplating the things that makes us who we are. The thing that stands out the most about Roy is his carefree spirit. He lived his life by his rules and expectations. Some of his favorite things to do were fishing, billiards, playing basketball, and grilling. Like his father, his passion was singing that started in the church choir early in life. He won a few karaoke contests and had several followers.
Roy leaves to grieve his passing a son Roy L. Haynes, III of San Antonio, Texas and a daughter Farrah Felicia Brooks-Pryor of Converse, Texas; sisters Marietta Pollard and Emma Mathis of San Antonio, Texas, and Vickie L. Joyner of Round Rock, Texas; six grandchildren: Devonnah Goodloe, Malik Pryor, Akeem
