ROZALEE (ROSIE) LOUISE PHILLIPS
October 27, 1930 – July 24, 2018

Rozalee joined her father, Frank S. Persyn, and mother, Marie Verschelden Persyn, who came to America from Belgium in 1915, her husband, Paul, her sister, Matilda Halty, and her brother, Pete Persyn, also predeceased Rosie. She & Paul had been married 67 years at the time of Paul’s death in 2015. She is survived by her brothers, Richard, Jimmy, Frank & Severine Persyn, her sisters, Madeline Zaiontz, & Carol Calk, her children, Linda Phillips Kivell (Mike Milam), Glenn Phillips (Sharon Phillips), Donna Phillips (Leland Witherspoon) and Sharon Phillips (Bill Coleman). Grandchildren are John Allen, Brandon Kivell, Jessica Phares and Paul Phillips, great grandson Corbin Phares, and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Rosie graduated from South San High School, where she was a drum majorette. She was chosen Cowbelle to represent San Antonio at the Bandera Stompede, and Jaycee Rodeo Queen ’47-’48. Rosie worked for Kelly Air Force Base and in 1953, she represented the Base riding on a guided missile float in the Fiesta Parade. Later, she also worked for Sears. Rosie bowled in several leagues and belonged to the Belgium American Club. She & Paul were very active. They belonged to a square dancing club, & they enjoyed fun with family & friends at their house on Lake LBJ, and traveling. They went to every state & many countries around the world. Rozalee was comforted by her daughter and Legal Guardian, Sharon Phillips, until she took her last breath in the place she wanted to be when she left this world. A mass and celebration of life will be held for Rosie at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 16075 N. Evans Rd., Selma, TX on Thursday, August 16, 2018. Mass starts at 10:30 AM, and will be followed by a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association for research to cure.
