Ruben Vasquez Jr.

It is with great sadness that the family of Ruben Vasquez Jr. announce his passing following a lengthy battle with brain cancer. On August 29,2020 at 46 years of age, Ruben Vasquez Jr., of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family.

Ruben was born and raised in Alice, Texas and was a graduate of Alice High School’s class of 1992. He was a vocational nursing graduate (2010), earning the Florence Nightingale award and a UIW Bachelor of Science graduate (2019). He also served in the Army. Ruben loved being outdoors, riding his bike, jogging, enjoyed being around family and friends and loved his job. He was employed with Halliburton for over 10 years.

He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, April Vasquez, of 20 years, his sons Ruben Vasquez III and Steven Vasquez, his sisters Sandra (Eric) Chapa and Samantha (Dominic) Aldama, his mother Lydia Vasquez and numerous relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Ruben Vasquez Sr., maternal grandparents Jimmy and Aurora Villarreal, paternal grandparents Guadalupe and Maria Anita Vasquez, and his uncles Andy Villarreal and Roy Vasquez.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to all of Ruben’s doctors and nurses for their care and compassion. They would also like to thank their family, friends and Halliburton for all the love, support, and prayers throughout the years and especially in Ruben’s last days.

The family requests everyone wear a mask and observe social distancing and do not hug or shake hands due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
