Rudolfo 'Rudy' Rivera

Rudy Rivera went on to be with the Lord on Sunday April 5 in San Antonio Texas. Rudy traveled the world serving his country in the Air Force before returning to his home town of Benavides Texas, where he met his wife, Maria del Carmen Rivera who was living only 25 miles away. Rudy and Mary were married for 36 years and had 3 sons. They settled in Kirby Texas in 1977. Rudy loved his country, the Judson Rockets, and his family. He will be remembered for reading his Bible every morning, talking to anyone about Jesus, and opening his home to anyone in need. Despite requiring the assistance from a wheelchair for 30 years he never complained about his disability. He referred to his wheelchair as his other leg and remained active throughout his life.Rudy is survived by his wife, Maria del Carmen, his sons and their wives- Rudy Jr and Brook Rivera, Jose Rolando and Amanda Rivera, and Eric Rivera, 5 grandchildren, brothers and their wives- Reymundo and Enedina Vasquez, Raul and Irene Vasquez, and Rene Vasquez, and many nieces and nephews. His favorite Bible verse was Isaiah 41:10- Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Rudy had two favorite sayings, Goodbye is too final, so Ill see you later, and Go forward in the name of Jesus.Visitation is from 11 am- 8pm on April 9, 2009 at Puente Sons Funeral Chapels-14315 Judson Road, San Antonio, Texas 78233. Memorial service at 11 am Friday April 10, 2009 at Puente Sons Funeral Chapels followed by Interment Service at 1:15 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
