Sally Ann Garza-Ruiz

August 10, 1962 — July 20, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sally Ann Garza-Ruiz, on July 20, 2020 in San Antonio, TX.

Born on August 10, 1962 to her loving parents, Annie Mae and Ernest Garza, Sr. Sally graduated from Blessed Sacrament Academy where she played various sports, and later attended San Antonio College, and Palo Alto College where she was part of the inaugural class in 1985.

She worked various jobs throughout her years, including a bingo caller at St. James Catholic Church, and as wedding dress consultant for Cinderella’s Designs and Eastman’s Bridal. She finished out her career working for Bexar County as a Records Clerk for 17 years.

Sally was a free spirit and lived a life full of adventure. She traveled extensively throughout her life, but as many know Sally’s calling was always the beach. She enjoyed her outings with friends and embraced every moment of life. She was a great cook and enjoyed sharing her love for cooking with her family and friends.

With her talents, she never hesitated to cook something, create a floral arrangement, make corsages or bouquets for weddings, or pitch in with her creativity.

Sally was a very loving, caring and giving person. Sally’s life was an example of a being “kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ (Ephesians 4:32)”. Family and friends knew her as a kind and generous person, whose generosity knew no bounds. She was generous with her time, talents, and treasures. You could always count on Sally to be the one who listens, to share laughs with, to enjoy a meal or drink with, travel with, and create great memories with.

She will be greatly missed and will forever remain in our hearts.

She is preceded in death by her parents Annie Mae and Ernest Garza, Sr., her sister Ernestine Ibarra, her brother Ernest Garza Jr., and her nephew Abel Salinas, all whom loved her dearly.

Sally is survived by her daughter Emberly Davila, her niece Rose Ibarra Salinas (Abel); her nephew Armando Ibarra (Jessica); her great nieces and nephews Ryan Ibarra & Amanda Alonzo, Brianna & Mark Sanchez, Christian Ibarra & Lauren Franco, Matthew Alonzo & Mia Ibarra, Israel & Ilijah Martinez, Larry Mendoza, and Mary Dee Yarbrough; her grandchildren Steven Davila & Jayanna Davila; and many friends and family.

Visitation will be held at Puente & Son’s Funeral Chapels-14315 Judson Rd. San Antonio, TX 78233 on Monday, August 3rd from 4 pm – 8 pm, followed by the Rosary at 6:30 pm.

On Tuesday, August 4th, the procession will depart Puente & Sons Funeral Chapel at 8:30 am for the funeral mass at 9:30 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on 617 S.
