Samuel Shearrer departed his temporary home here on Earth and went to be with his Lord in his eternal home on November 29th, 2020.
Samuel was born on January 5th, 1934 in Poteet, Texas to John Raymond and Nina Louise Shearrer, who have preceded him in death. He was raised in a loving family with his 3 siblings. Wave (Schleising) and Daylon Shearrer have preceded him in death. He is survived by his eldest brother, Norman Shearrer.
After graduating high school, Samuel moved to Pleasanton, Texas, where he took over running the family business. He soon bought and expanded Shearrer's Grocery Store.
He married Gwendolyn E. Patterson and together they raised a beautiful family of four children: Sammy Ray, Sandra Lynn, Gary Wayne, and Dawn Louise. He spent the next half-century as a dedicated husband, father, business owner, and active member of his community. He was a founding father of Community Bible Chapel in Pleasanton. He was actively involved in the local City Council, school board, church, and other community service projects.
He and his wife moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where they became part of the Annaville Baptist Church family. After Samuel lost his beloved wife of 54 years, he dedicated more of his time to the spiritual growth and development of others.
In time, God blessed Samuel with a new love and partner in life. In 2015, Samuel married Cynthia Gwendolyn and joined his family with hers. He gained 5 grown children and their families: Cyndi, Skye, Joshua, Jennifer, and Tamara.
Samuel was a servant of God, a spiritual father, and a mentor to a multitude of people over the years. He was a Sunday School teacher from the young age of 19 and remained a spiritual leader through the day of his death.
We all hope that we will leave this world a better place, Samuel made that a reality. He will remain in the hearts of those he left behind. The Spirit of “Papa Sam” will live on through generations to come.
Celebrating his journey home while continuing his legacy are: his wife, Cynthia Gwendolyn Shearrer; his children: Sammy Ray Shearrer, Sandra Lynn (Steve) McWilliams, Gary Wayne (Donna) Shearrer, Dawn Louise (Stan) Autry, Cynthia Ann (James) Moczygemba, Skye Van (Carolina) Ferguson, Joshua Alain (Emilee) Caballero, Jennifer Janine (Barry) Harper, and Tamara Lorraine (Brian) Nix; 34 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and numerous family members in Christ.
