A proud veteran, Santiago honorably served in the United States Army, reflecting his unwavering commitment to his country and its values. Beyond his military service, Santiago was a man of many interests. He found joy in the great outdoors, embracing nature "rain or shine," and passionately indulged in barbecuing for family and friends. His love for music often filled the air with the comforting sounds of oldies, enjoyed alongside a beer and a cigarette, capturing the essence of a life well-lived.
Santiago is survived by his three devoted daughters, Priscilla Avila, Jo Ann Avila, and Judy (Mark) Ramirez, who carry forward his loving spirit. He was also a proud grandfather to Felix, Moses, Brian, and Destiny. His legacy extends further with four cherished great-grandchildren: Mila, Valentina, Iris, and Oliver, who will continue to honor his memory.
He is remembered fondly by his siblings: Virginia, Ruben, Thomas, Ramon, Eloy, Rudy, Fernando, Arturo, and Ricky. Santiago will be missed deeply by his family, who remember him not only as a guiding light but also as a source of unwavering support and kindness.
Santiago was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Sr. and Virginia Avila, as well as his beloved sisters Elida, Josie, and Diana, and his brother Joe. They welcomed him with open arms as he rejoined them in peace.
As we reflect on the life of Santiago Rocha Avila, we celebrate a man who embodied the true spirit of love and generosity. His memories will forever remain etched in the hearts of those he touched throughout his profound journey.
