SARAH JANE "JANIE" REED BAIRD

On Saturday, September 6, 2014, Sarah "Janie" Baird left her earthly life to be in a better place with her Lord. She was 84 years old. She had suffered with Alzheimer's disease for the last few years. Janie was born Feb 19, 1930 to Earl and Minnie Sue (Phillips) Reed on a small farm in the tiny community of Sunnyside, Texas. She was the ninth of twelve children. She was a people person who loved life and liked to have fun throughout her life. She was completely devoted to her family.

Janie graduated from Floresville High School. She then met the love of her life, Manuel Baird, whom she married Feb 18, 1949. They moved to San Antonio to work and to be near her siblings and their families. Janie worked in civil service for many years.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Manuel, ten siblings: Edward and wife Vivian Reed, Kathleen and husband Alton Stadler, Thelma and husband Justin Lynn,
Jewel and husband Leo Lynn, Garvan Reed, Winfred and wife Hazel Reed, Minnie Lou and
husband Hubert Haycraft, Clara and husband Lloyd Garrett, Jack Reed, and Bobby Joe Reed.

Janie is survived by one daughter, Donna Jo Cloutier, grandchildren Crystal Proby, Stacie Proby, and Trevor Proby and wife Stephanie, great-grandchildren Madison, Karma, Kendra, and Abagale; one brother, Phillip Reed, sisters-in-law Adele Teague, and Carolyn Johns, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Puente and Son Funeral Home on Monday, September 15, at 9:30 a.m.
with memorial service at 10:00 and graveside service at 11:15 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Puente and Son Funeral Home on Janie's behalf.
