Shari Workman

January 21, 1960 — October 29, 2010

On October 29 2010, surrounded by family and friends, Shari Workman passed away peacefully after her heroic and lengthy battle with cancer. Sharon Jo Workman was born on January 21, 1960 in Lancaster Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Jo Campbell and her beloved yellow lab "Khaki". Survivors include her husband Walter, daughter Mindy and nine siblings and their families: William and Sarah Campbell, Scot and Karen Campbell, Michael and Gina Campbell, Robert and Jeanette Campbell, Deborah and Rick Raisbeck of Fennimore Wisc. and Richard and Karen Campbell of Monroe, Wisc. Nancy and Karl Kelz of Medford, Wisc, Katherine and Brian Hamilton of Grass Valley, Calif. and Christi and Steve Mykytyn of McFarland, Wisc. Shari was a favorite aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Shari's other special friends and family include: Jeanne McNeal "Weiner", Barb Riley, Leanna Davis, Rhonda Smith, Jennifer Eggleston, Stanley and Billie Jean Workman, Franklin and Fran Workman, Myrtice Farris and so many other friends and students who will miss her. A 1978 graduate of Fennimore High School, Shari continued her education at the University of Dubuque. In 1983, Shari graduated Magna Cum Laude with teaching degrees in Biology, Chemistry, and English. Shari was an instructor for the San Antonio Northeast Independent School District for the past 21 years. The schools she taught at include: Jackson, Garner and Driscoll middle schools, Churchill and Robert E. Lee High Schools. Among her many professional accomplishments, Shari received "Teacher of the Year" for Driscoll in 1994 and "Teacher of the Year" for Churchill in 2007. Shari's many interests included family get togethers, photography, rock collecting, camping, traveling, bird watching and her pets. Shari's love of the outdoors and magnetic personality made her a marvelous teacher and loving mother. She loved going back north to Wisconsin but her heart was always in Texas. The family wishes to express their most heart felt thanks to everyone for their prayers, help, care and support these past years. A special thanks goes to Dr. Drengler, Dr. Mirkovic, Gail Hutsler and the entire START Clinic staff, and a big thanks to Mike Robey for his friendship and wisdom.

Memorials:
Memorials will go to Mindy for future education.

Cemetery:
A private Interment will be conducted at a later date in Wisconsin with a memorial service at St Peters Church in Fennimore, Wisc.

Service:
On Monday November 1, 2010, a memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Kristine Franke Hill at the Shepherd King Lutheran Church 303 W Ramsey San Antonio. Shari's family and friends will greet well wishes starting at 5PM followed by a service at 6PM.
