On January 17, 2023, God called another good, strong and brave man home to heaven. Steve
Medina was born on October 22, 1974, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Jose Medina and
Rebecca Guerrero. He attacked cancer with all his might and even participated in research
studies so that others may have a better chance in their respective fights.
He is greeted in heaven by his mother and leaves his heart with those he loved most - his
children, Justice, Steven and Rebecca Medina. They were his pride and joy and will carry on his
legacy of faith, truth, strength, compassion, dedication and independence in their lives. He also
leaves a brother, John Eric Guerrero, sisters, Stephanie Yvette Guerrero, Elizabeth Guerrero,
Amanda Guerrero, Lucy Guerrero, Amy Guerrero, Monique Medina and many nieces and
nephews. Others who will miss Steve and his quick wit include his maternal grandmother, Alicia
Martinez, aunts, uncles, many cousins, many friends and especially his "wifey", April Medina,
who supported him unconditionally throughout his journey.
Steve lived his life taking nothing for granted. He worked hard and led by example whether it
was at his job with San Antonio Water System or playing/coaching football. He inspired
countless young men through the discipline of sports and was a huge supporter of the San
Francisco 49'ers. But NOTHING compared to the time that he spent making memories with his
children, family and friends.
Given his fight with cancer, Steve supported St. Jude's Children Research Hospital. In lieu of
flowers, please consider giving a small donation to them as well.
