Sylvia J. Trevino

June 12, 1934 — May 19, 2020

Sylvia J. Trevino, loving wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and sister passed away at age 85 on May 19, 2020. She was born to Alberto C. Guerra and Selvia Perez on June 12, 1934. She had three siblings – Alberto, Maria Elena and Rosalinda.
In 1969, she married Abel Trevino. At the time, she had three sons Andrew, John and Mark from a previous marriage. Together, they created a blended family with Abel’s children – Margo, Abel III, Yvonne, David and Ernest. Sylvia and Abel had one son together, their youngest, Albert.
As a data analyst for civil service, she worked at and visited hospitals in military bases around the world. After retiring at age 55, she and Abel could often be found fishing at the coast, hanging out at the deer lease or playing cards with their children and grandchildren. She often accompanied Abel as he worked installing printing presses in locations around the world.
After the passing of her beloved Abel in 1999, Sylvia kept busy with her many hobbies. She raised canaries and was a long-time member of the River City Bird Club. Gardening was another hobby. She enjoyed peaches from her tree and regularly threatened to dig-up her plum tree because it didn’t produce. She was a genealogy buff and had meticulously traced and documented her family’s history.
Most of all, Sylvia loved spending time with family, especially going to football and softball games or just talking with her grandchildren Dalton, Gunner and Ally Trevino or visiting her granddaughter, Dr. Felicia Armstrong, and her great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Chase, in South Dakota. She was proud of her grandsons, Bobby and Dalton, and their military service.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Abel Trevino, son Mark Gonzalez, her in-laws, Abel and Ninfa Trevino, and her brother, Alberto Guerra.
Sylvia Trevino is survived by her sisters, Maria Elena and Rosalinda, her loving sons, Andrew (Sandie), John, and Albert (Wendy); her stepchildren, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, family members and friends, including her dear friend, Mary Ann Lowthorp.
