Ted Doyle Ballew

Ted Ballew, affectionately known as "Teddy Bear" to his loved ones, passed away on December 14, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on October 31, 1944, in Waco, Texas, Ted lived a life filled with faith, family, and service to others. 

In 1966, Ted moved to San Antonio, Texas, in search of new opportunities, where he would eventually build a life and a legacy. He worked as a carpenter for an impressive 50 years, with 35 of those years spent in partnership with Al Newman. He helped build many congregations with the RDC. 

Ted was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 22, 1961. This decision would shape his life and guide his actions, as he dedicated himself to serving Jehovah. He was a devoted elder in his congregation since its arrangement began in 1972 and prior served as the congregation servant.

Ted was a devoted husband to his wife, Frances Ballew, with whom he shared 52 loving years of marriage until her passing. He is survived by his son, Michael Ballew; daughter-in-law, Tabitha Ballew; and granddaughter, Madison Ballew. He is also survived by his siblings, Thad Ballew, Mary Catherine Yates, Suezie McKanney, and Linda Vela.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Tillman Ballew and Lois Ballew; his wife, Frances Ballew; and his brother, Weldon Ballew. In a remarkable coincidence, Ted's brother-in-law and close friend, Thomas Newman, passed away on the same day, December 14, 2024.

In his free time, Ted enjoyed spending time with his family, savoring good food, and fishing. His legacy will be remembered through the countless lives he touched and the many memories he created with his loved ones.
