In loving memory of Teresa Sanchez, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peaceful in San Antonio, Texas on Monday, March 4, 2024. Teresa was born on January 2, 1948, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas to her parents, Jose Martinez Vasquez and Dolores Figueroa. She married the love of her life, Alejo A. Sanchez, a decorated WWII veteran, who she is once again eternally joined with in Heaven.
She was known for her compassionate and giving heart that she always expressed to her family and those who were blessed to know her. She was known for delicious and authentic cooking, her warm smile, and unending love for her classical Mexican music that she would readily sing when prompted to do so. She was also known for the love of her "plantas" that bloomed year around, surrounding her home, which she was always ready to give away to those learning and listening to her teaching on how to make a tea, or use to relieve an ailment, or the passerby that stopped to just simply admire the fruits of her labor.
She is survived by her four daughters and three stepchildren, Sarah Flores, Jesse Sanchez, Rachel Pesek, Nora Rodriguez, Sonia Cuellar, Alma Moreno, and Ana Carrion. She is also survived by her fifteen grandchildren, Sarah Cuellar, James Cuellar, Josiah Cuellar, John Sanchez, Rachel Morales, Marisol Criado, Robert Rodriguez, Jr., Karina Criado, Richard Rodriguez, Raven Rodriguez, Isiah Moreno, Julian Cuellar, Emma Carrion, Sophie Moreno, Camila Rodriguez, and Ella Carrion. And Teresa's four younger siblings, Jose Martinez, Dolores Garcia, Ramon Martinez, and Patricia Fraire. And countless but not forgotten, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends that were always by her side.
A funeral mass will be held in her honor at St. Leo The Great Catholic Church, 4415 S. Flores St., San Antonio, Texas, 78214 (Date/Time are currently pending).
