Thomas Martinez

Thomas Martinez, a cherished family man and a dedicated member of his community, passed away on January 23, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on January 18, 1954, in Kingsville, Texas, to Anastacio and Maria Guadalupe Martinez, who predeceased him.

Throughout his life, Thomas made a name for himself as a self-employed landscaper, painter, and overall handyman. His work reflected not only his skill but also his passion for creating beauty around him. Known for his good humor and playful spirit, he brought laughter to those fortunate enough to know him. A devoted sports fan for the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs, sharing his enthusiasm with family and friends. His personality shone brightly; he was known for having a big heart and a childlike joy that endeared him to all.

Thomas was a loving father to five children—Tomas Jr., John Edward (Mandy), Lisa (Joe) Rhoads, David Joel, and Sarah Leigh—and a proud grandfather to his seven grandchildren- Jonathan, Benjamin, Julissa, Kassandra, Andre, Jada, and  Aliyah and 2 great grandchildren- Luke and Noble Martinez. Each of them held a special place in his heart and were a source of immense pride and joy in his life.

He is survived by his beloved siblings- Janie Moreno (Fernando), Jose Anastacio Martinez (Yolanda), Maria Guadalupe Martinez, Teresa Balboa (Carlos), and Lauro Martinez (Leonora). The legacy of love and laughter that Thomas leaves behind will be cherished by all who knew him.

A visitation in honor of Thomas will be held on January 29, 2025, at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels-South in San Antonio from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Prayer Service beginning at 1:30 PM. Thomas Martinez will be remembered for his playful spirit, kindness, and the joy he brought to his family and friends.
