Verlea Jones Haston of San Antonio passed away on February 9, 2013, at the age of 99. She was born the oldest of three children in Aledo, Texas, on Sept. 5, 1913, to Grace and Martin Jones and was a graduate of Austin High School. Verlea was predeceased by Arch Haston, her husband of 65 years, in 2000, and by her twin sisters, Francis Griffin and Helen Tharp. Verlea worked many years as a legal secretary and was an accomplished artist. Interested in various activities, Verlea belonged to several groups over the years. She was a member of Castle Hills Garden Club, Castle Hills Woman’s Club, Shearer Hills Baptist Church, San Antonio Ki-Anns, San Antonio Bar Auxiliary, Daughters of the American Revolution, River Art Group, San Antonio Art League, San Antonio Watercolor Group, and Love Texas Gallery. VerleaHaston is survived by daughter, Nancy Foster of San Antonio, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bob Frazer of Austin, and grandsons and wives, Lee and Tara Frazer of Durango, Colorado, and Danny and Joy Frazer also of Durango, Colorado. In addition, she leaves behind four great-grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews. The family extends thanks to Verlea’sexceptional and compassionate caregivers, Lashun Cloud, Ashley Hays, Mary McAfee, and LaWonda Patterson.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at 1:00 pm at Mission Burial Park North, 20900 IH 10 West in San Antonio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shearer Hills Baptist Church, 12615 San Pedro Ave San Antonio, TX 78216, or to a charity of your choice.
