After high school and trade school, he enlisted in the Army during the Korean War and proudly served his country in the 101st Airborne Division from April 1953 to March 1955. He was introduced to the game of polo by his uncle and traveled throughout the United States playing and running various polo clubs. An ardent musician, Vince played the flute and saxophone and had his own jazz combo during the 50's and early 60's and played at many small jazz clubs in Chicago. He also founded two popular night spots in the near-north area of Chicago: the "Earl of Old Town" with partner Earl Pionke and "The Bulls", later renamed the "Jazz Bulls Club". His love for music came from his Grandfather Vincenzo Azzaro. Later, he continued training polo horses on his farm in Floresville, Texas and returned to his love of gardening that was instilled in him at a young age by his grandparents Rosalie and Vincent Geraci. Vince was also known for his great cooking and entertaining; that love of cooking came from his Grandmother Angela Azzaro.
