Wendell Anthony Golias

On March 17, 2021, Wendell Anthony Golias, 89, a resident of San Antonio, celebrated the return to everlasting life with God after he passed peacefully in his sleep with family by his side at his son’s home in San Antonio.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Rita Diaz; his sons, John (Carmen), Stephen (Dawn), Michael and Paul (Nadine); his grandchildren, Kelsey, Joshua, Ashley, Savanna, Lilly; Marilyn, the mother of his children and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death and is now reunited with his parents Wendell John and Mary Elizabeth Poshedly Golias; his brothers, Stephen, Andrew, Msgr. John, Thomas, Alfred and Bernard; his sisters, Sister Mary Rita, Ann Marie Barr, Helen Martous and Cecilia Kessler and his granddaughter: Cara.

Wendell started his career of service to his country when he enlisted in the US Air Force in 1953; attending Basic Training at Sampson AFB, New York. His assignments were to Itazuke AFB Japan, Scott AFB, IL and Keesler AFB, MS. He received a commission in the US Air Force in 1968 while working on his Master’s degree in Philosophy. Shortly after, 1st Lieutenant Golias honorably discharged his duties and then attended the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, VA. He became a Special Agent for the FBI in 1970 and continued to serve his country faithfully and honorably for the next 27 years, being stationed at San Antonio, Yuma, AZ and at FBI headquarters in Washington DC. Upon retirement, he moved from Virginia to San Antonio to relax and enjoy his final chapters of life by seeking and being in relationship with God, adventuring, traveling, laughing, sharing, being in fellowship and much more with family and close friends... and so, all came to be just as he lived and loved.
