Today we celebrate the passing of our beloved. USAF Chief Master Sergeant, Wilbert E. Russell
As a youth, Wilbert attended St. John Church. He was a 1961 graduate of Middleton High School, where he was a trumpet section leader with The Marching Tigers.
Wilbert enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country for 24 years. He received a Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one Silver Oak Leaf Cluster and one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with one Silver Oak Leaf Cluster. National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Wilbert also received the Distinguished Husband and Father Award that will never tarnish.
During his Tour of Duty, Wilbert obtained a Bachelors degree from Our Lady of the Lake University and his Masters Degree from Webster University.
After retirement from the USAF, Wilbert worked and retired from the US Department of Defense.
Wilbert loved his family, fishing, jazz music, and playing his trumpet. He was a shining light that lit up every room he entered and he loved everyone.
Wilbert leaves behind, the Love of his life for 65 years. His Wife, Sally A. Russell. Their Daughters, LaTonia (Don), Wilma and Felicia (Gerald), a hosts of grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister, brothers and a host of family and friends.
