William “Bill” Abeyta was born on February 2, 1945 in Weston, Colorado to his parents Ernest and Thelma Abeyta and passed away on January 1, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas. He spent his early childhood in Colorado and eventually moved to California with his family. He attended La Puente High School where he met his future wife of 55 years Delia.
Bill was drafted to the army to serve in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967. Among his many accolades and achievements, Bill was a Purple Heart Recipient. Upon returning home, Bill and Delia were married in 1968 and settled in El Monte, California. Bill was a caring and beloved father to his five children: Regina, Elena, Julie, Donna, and Jonathan.
As a craftsman of many trades Bill enjoyed working in his garage on his many projects. There was nothing he couldn’t fix or build. For 35 years he worked at US Filter where he used his skills to supervise a team that built water filtration systems. In 2010 Bill retired and spent his post retirement years in Colorado and settled in San Antonio, Texas.
